In 1928, at the dawn of talkie films, Mack Sennett—the “King of Comedy” and an enterprising silent film actor, director and producer—transformed a lettuce ranch into a state-of-the-art motion picture facility. Over the years, the studios expanded, became a hub of job creation and pioneering programming, and it became a place around which the residential neighborhoods of Studio City grew.
Today, Radford Studio City remains a celebrated, full-service film and television studio. The 1.14-million-square-foot campus offers 22 stages and a multitude of exterior locations, including three permanent sets—New York Street, Central Park and Residential Street. There are 18 office buildings and 20 bungalows, in addition to more than 200 permanent and portable dressing rooms and 14 multi-purpose rooms.
For set construction and manufacturing, there’s a Mill Complex and entire Paint Department.
The onsite Grip and Set Lighting Departments are fully equipped for both scaffold and pipe rigging. Sound and attendant facilities are on lot for both film and videotape. What’s more, there’s a Viewing Room that seats 69 people for screenings and production meetings.
Additional amenities include Carla’s Café, which offers daily meals, cast & crew catering, craft services, and event catering; Joe’s Gym, with memberships exclusively for studio employees and tenants; Elaine’s Beauty Studio; and Super Mario Auto Detailing.
No wonder we’ve been home to so many beloved movies and shows. More than a facility, we’re a collaborative environment that covers it all.
